Kiwanis representatives pose with the D38 Board of Education

Representatives of the Monument Hill Kiwanis Club helped showcase the artistic flare of dozens of Lewis-Palmer School District 38 students as when they celebrated the results of their inaugural Stars of Tomorrow talent show at the April 17 District Board of Education meeting.

In its inaugural year, 20 solo and group acts participated to win substantial prizes. The acts ranged from original songs, renditions from musicals, instrumental acts and much more. A sampling of the performances can be found here.

“As you can see, the talent is simply amazing, and it was very hard for the judges to decide,” said Richard Strom, who spearheaded the program. “We had about 400 people in the audience, and it was great to have so many people supporting those students.”

Winners of the Palmer Ridge High School-based competition appeared for recognition alongside Kiwanis members on April 17.

  • Wyatt Hyden, PRHS junior, earned a $2,000 prize for his electric guitar solo medley.

  • Raleigh Eversole, PRHS senior, earned a $1,000 prize for his solo bassoon performance.

  • Eric Lambrech, LPES 6th-grader, earned $750 for his piano performance

  • Rose Magdalene Helgoth, St. Peter’s 4th-grader, earned $500 for her vocal performance.

“Lewis-Palmer School District 38 has enjoyed a very strong partnership with Monument Hill Kiwanis for many years and the district is grateful for the many fundraising efforts, and leadership experiences and opportunities it provides to D38 families and its students. We thank you very much,” said Tiffiney Upchurch, Board of Education President.

Strom returned the thanks on behalf of the Kiwanis club for the district’s willingness to share facilities and partner in programs such as Empty Bowls, a fundraiser that helps provide donations to Tri-Lakes Cares.

Stars of Tomorrow will return in 2024.
