Assistive Technology

Lewis-Palmer School District 38 supports students with disabilities in the academic areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students with disabilities, who struggle in these areas as identified by a multidisciplinary Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team, will receive assistive technology devices and/or services. The purpose of assistive technology support is to help students compensate or “work around” their disability to gain access to the general education curriculum and activities as much as possible. The IEP team makes the decisions about assistive technology devices and services based on each student’s unique needs so that he or she can be more confident and independent.
