In an update to the Board of Education on ESSER III funding, Chief Financial Officer Kitte Overton announced a preliminary budget allocating more than $2.75 million in federal funds for D38. Monument Academy will receive just under $413,000 of the relief dollars.
Overton said the preliminary budget lines up with community stakeholder desires collected in a recent survey. The resulting budget is split between the five strategic plan priorities, with roughly 50 percent of funds for initiatives under Priority 1, 28 percent for initiatives under Priority 2, 21 percent for initiatives under Priority 3 with the remainder to be spent administering the funding and communicating out results.
“Our survey went out to students, staff, the community and some special interest groups asking for input on how to best use our ESSER III grant funding,” Overton said. “Social-emotional wellbeing was of great importance to our stakeholders, as well as continued improvement to facilities and safety, continued intervention programs and continued emphasis on technology and equipment.”
