This month's Staff Spotlight employee is Michael Celznick, Building Manager at Palmer Ridge High School!
What drew you to work in D38, and how long have you worked in the district? Have you always been at Palmer Ridge?
I came to Colorado about 16 years ago to investigate the job landscape and found that Palmer Ridge High School had been open for about two years. The opportunity to grow my skill set in beautiful Colorado and work in a new high school in a position that combined leadership, problem solving, and service was exactly the path for professional growth I was looking for. I've been at Palmer Ridge ever since making the move here.
What is your favorite part of the school day or year?
My favorite part of the school day is always the early morning hours, in the calm of the morning, when students and staff are arriving. This is the time that best sets the tone for the day, and for identifying issues early and working them through completion. In addition, I especially enjoy supporting the many opportunities hosted by the school, such as academic clubs and sporting events.
What is your favorite thing about working in D38 or at Palmer Ridge?
My favorite thing is definitely working with the students, staff, and visitors. I feel that I'm an integral part of a safe and smoothly running operation. Every day brings new challenges that serve to hone my leadership and problem-solving skills.
Is there anything interesting, unusual, or noteworthy about your school or the district that you have learned from working in your position?
I've learned the importance of patience in the face of challenging circumstances that require flexibility and problem-solving skills, the close relationship that exist with area first responders, and the professionalism shown by staff at other D38 schools.
Is there anything you would like to say or a message you would like to share with your fellow staff members or school community at Palmer Ridge?
To my team, I say thanks for a job well done. To the school staff, I would like to say how proud I am to be a part of this community. To the students, I say never stop learning; the opportunities are abundant. GO BEARS!
