We recently shared that Lewis-Palmer Elementary School (LPES) Principal Davonne Johnson has accepted a new position in D38 serving as the Program Director for Home School Enrichment and Coordinator of Universal Preschool and Title Programs for the 2026-27 school year. We are deeply appreciative of her dedication and service to LPES over the past five years and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
As we prepare for the transition to a new principal, our process will intentionally involve LPES staff, parents, and students to help gather valuable input regarding leadership qualities that are most important for our new principal. Involving the entire LPES community will ensure a thorough, fair, and confidential selection process to identify our next school leader.
District and school leadership will meet with LPES staff on April 20 to provide details and answer questions about the process. Next, district and school leaders will engage in conversation with LPES families on April 21 to gather insight on what they would like to see in the school's new leader. LPES families are also invited to complete a short survey to share their thoughts. This form closes on Wed., April 29.
Following the meetings, D38 will form a Principal Selection Advisory Committee consisting of approximately 7–8 staff members and 2–3 parents/guardians. The group will work in partnership with district leaders throughout the selection process.
As we move forward with this process, we will continue to keep the LPES community informed about our timeline and next steps. We plan to begin interviews in late May and we look forward to working together to select our next principal for Lewis-Palmer Elementary School.
