Ribbon cutting for new preschool program and playground at Palmer Lake Elementary School, students and D38 staff member clapping and celebrating after the ribbon was cut

Palmer Lake Elementary celebrated their new preschool program this week with a ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of a new preschool playground.

Many preschool students and their families attended the event, which took place on Tuesday, August 12th. Also on hand for the celebration were prominent members of the D38 community, including Board of Education President Tiffiney Upchurch, and Director Todd Brown.

Palmer Lake Mayor Dennis Stern also attended the ribbon cutting.

"I'm impressed by the number of young families here. The impression is that Palmer Lake is an older community and obviously young families are the future of any community, so this is pretty cool," Mayor Stern said.

Members of the D38 Executive Team were also in attendance. Alicia Welch, Executive Director of Education Services spoke about her excitement for the new program.

"I am so excited to be part of celebrating a new space for our youngest learners in D38. Expanding preschool to include a program at Palmer Lake Elementary is an important addition. It means our preschool team, the staff at this school, and our district have the opportunity to impact even more children," Welch said.

Funding for the new preschool playground was provided by the district. The Monument Hill Kiwanis Club has also provided funding for additional playground equipment.

Open spots in D38 preschool programs may still be available. You can find everything you need to know about D38 preschool programs on the Preschool Eligibility & Enrollment page.
