Family, friends, and D38 staff packed the Broadmoor World Arena on May 20, to celebrate the Lewis-Palmer High School (LPHS) Class of 2025. The ceremony marked the first of two graduations for District 38 that day and honored 258 graduates.
The graduation ceremony included performances by the Monument Hill Brass Quintet, as well as multiple student performances. The LPHS Treble Voices performed the “Star Spangled Banner” and “For Good” from Wicked. Ellie Jean Glover performed “Vienna” by Billy Joel, and Maren Grace Stickrath performed “Have it All,” by Jason Mraz.
A medley of “Pixar Movie Favorites” was also performed by Nathan Michael Bird, Alexander David Chapman, Kelvin Zane Duling, Ashley Nicole Forsyth, Lauren Kaylee Johnson, Mackenzie Fay Loew, and Caitlyn Mackenzie Quinby.
As the graduates are set to head into a world of ever-advancing technology, D38 Superintendent, Amber Whetstine reminded them to always remember the best things inside of them that they can take out into the world.
“I want to talk to you about humanity. As technology gets faster and smarter, we must never forget what makes us irreplaceable, our ability to care. Being human is about more than intelligence, it’s about compassion,” Superintendent Whetstine told graduates. “Every person you encounter is navigating struggles that may not be visible. Respond with compassion,” she said.
“Let knowledge guide you, but let kindness define you. Pursue innovation but never at the cost of compassion. Read widely, think deeply, smile often, help without being asked. Be the reason someone feels seen, heard, or less alone,” Whetstine added. “The world needs your ideas but it needs your hearts even more.
Congratulations to the LPHS Class of 2025! Although one journey has ended, a new, longer one is just beginning. From everyone in District 38, we wish you all the best in life’s next adventure.
