Jeff Crank visits the CIC with Director Amy Sienkowski.

Lewis-Palmer School District welcomed Rep. Jeff Crank, R-Colorado, at our Career & Innovation Center (CIC) on Friday, Jan. 29. With February recognized as National Career & Technical Education Month, his visit provided a timely opportunity to engage in conversation about career and work-based learning with a state representative.

CIC students and teachers had the chance to showcase the relevant learning taking place throughout the facility.

“I was struck by the innovation aspect of it,” said Rep. Crank. “Getting [students] to think for themselves.”

The tour ended with a light lunch and open conversation among district leaders, Board members, CIC educators, and our representative.

“We’ve changed laws to give more flexibility, and [we’re] trying to get smaller companies to come in and innovate, and do things particularly with AI and cyber,” Crank added. “It’s great you are teaching things like that.”
