Our region received its first taste of winter weather over the weekend, and it looks like more is coming our way. Local forecasts indicate snow beginning around 10:00 p.m. this evening with additional snowfall expected on Wednesday, and high temperatures only in the 20s. Based on this information, D38 will be on a 2-HOUR DELAY FOR WEDNESDAY, DEC. 3. The delay will provide extra time in the morning to reevaluate conditions and determine if we need to shift to a closure.
As a reminder, on 2-hour delay days, there is no morning preschool and Leading Edge (our before and after school care program) follows the delay schedule.
Our weather decision team will meet in the early morning hours to review updated forecasts and reports from our transportation staff who will be driving roads across the district. Our facilities team will also update us on conditions at our campuses. If we determine that a closure is needed, we will notify all families and staff by 6:30 a.m.
We know many of you are eagerly awaiting our first snow day of the season. Our new Snow Day Tracker on the district website will let you track our usage of snow days and delays this winter, and the page also outlines the factors we consider when making our weather decisions.
