It’s the goal of Lewis-Palmer School District 38 to honor and uplift our staff. In this Kudos series, D38 allows our staff and stakeholders to uplift the dedicated individuals who go the extra mile in supporting our mission of elevating every student, every day. Our hardworking staff are encouraged to submit one another for nomination by clicking here.


The individuals nominated this month are:


  • Andy Stout, PWES

    • “Andy is the Building Manager at PWES and we truly appreciate his positive attitude and that he consistently goes above and beyond what is expected of him. He has a "can do" attitude and strives to make a difference for each staff member and student he interacts with on a daily basis. During lunch, if he sees a student eating alone, he sits down next to them and takes the opportunity to get to know them better. We are so grateful to have Mr. Stout on our team at Prairie Winds!”

  • Mary Jo Chapman, BCES

    • Mary Jo is not only doing an amazing job with her kindergarten classroom, but she has gone above and beyond to support the building MTSS team ALONG with assisting with writing IEPs for our preschool which is down staff members.

  • Tiffany Brown, Student Services

    • Tiffany is not only doing a great job in her new role but she is heading up a CDE-sponsored MTSS grant and getting out into the schools involved in that grant to lend support/expertise. She is lending her expertise in workshop model with Bear Creek in order to assist with the implementation of our ELA curriculum. Thanks for sharing your expertise in such a welcoming way!

  • Melissa Nunez, RKES

    • She has stepped up multiple times in our great need to find a secretary and done an amazing job! We appreciate her being a team player and keeping us afloat!

  • Mike Theemling, LPHS/PRHS

    • Mike, on a weekly basis, provides donuts, bagels, and periodically gives various thoughtful gifts to the PRHS staff. His continual generosity is amazing!

  • Cellene Slemmer, LPMS

    • She is an amazing and engaging teacher who has gone above and beyond this year to ensure students are taken care of. She is also a leader at LPMS and supports her colleagues. Mrs. Slemmer helps make LPMS great.

  • Steve Koops, LPMS

    • Mr. Koops is still second to none when it comes to building relationships with his students and creating excitement for his content. He is reliable and can always be counted on to fill a need. He is a true credit to LPMS.

  • Ken Motta, LPMS

    • Mr. Motta is an incredibly student-oriented teacher. Aside from his outstanding work in the classroom, he is a department lead. He also offers enrichment opportunities including partnering with the high schools for construction and most recently for robotics.

  • Melody DeFilippo, HSEA

    • Melody continuously ensures the students at HSEA have access to high-quality art experiences. This past month, the kiln exhaust failed. Melody researched and found a way to continue to fire the student's art projects. This included continuous monitoring to ensure safety. Melody shared that the children expressed pure joy as their art pieces were removed from the kin. Thank you Melody for your dedication.

  • Jason Boyer, LPMS

    • Thanks so much for all the time and effort, Jason, in bringing the Wizards back to town. A fun evening was had by all.

  • Dani DeBellis, LPES

    • Thank you for leading up our school's new Sunshine Committee. Your group is making it so fun to come to work. We appreciate how you are taking care of all of us!

  • Jennifer Mitchell, LPES

    • Thank you, Jen, for working so hard behind the scenes to roll out our school assessments! It has been smooth and had very little impact on our normal days!

  • Cynthia Eversole, LPES

    • Thank you for taking the lead on creating a beautiful Veteran's Day video and prepare our 3rd/4th grade choir to share with our community. We appreciate you.

  • 3rd Grade Team, LPES

    • Thank you to our 3rd grade team for your efforts in preparing our students for the Poetry and Pie event! We appreciate your energy around this, despite it getting snowed out!
