Gifted and Talented Education

The purpose of gifted education is to provide stimulating, challenging learning experiences that allow students with the potential for exceptional academic performance to develop their personal maximum potential academically, socially, and individually.

The gifted and talented teacher works with students who have been identified as gifted. If you are curious as to what qualifies a student as gifted, please contact the gifted facilitator or check out Identification Process, found in GT resources, for any questions about identification.

Please also check out our monthly articles, by accessing GT resources.

I am very excited to be part of Palmer Lake Elementary's tremendous team of teachers as the Gifted & Talented Facilitator. I previously worked as an engineer for Honeywell, building flight management systems for the A320, A340, and B777 commercial aircrafts. In 1999, my family gladly agreed to relocate from the "Big Oven" Phoenix, AZ to my native Colorado, where I pursued my love of teaching. I earned my M.A. in Education from UCCS in 2005 and taught math and science. I have worked with wonderful and wacky gifted children since 2008 and love their curiosity and many inquiries. I have been a lead team member of "eleSTEMary" since 2012; eleSTEMary is a grass roots Pikes Peak coalition of volunteer teachers, whose goal is to increase STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) learning in our elementary classrooms. I love to garden, hike, cook, read and spend as much of my free time outdoors, especially with family and friends, wondering and wandering about the natural world.

Best way to contact me is via email. I'll respond within 24 hours of school scheduled days.
