A winter storm warning has been issued for Northern El Paso County starting at 6:00 p.m. today and continuing through Wednesday, May 6 until 6:00 p.m. Local forecasters are predicting up to 10 inches of snow starting overnight for the Palmer Divide area, likely creating hazardous travel conditions for tomorrow. Heavy snow is expected throughout the day on Wednesday along with gusty winds causing whiteout conditions. As temperatures drop, roads are expected to become icy. As a result, Lewis-Palmer School District 38 will CLOSE ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 6.
Because the winter storm warning begins this evening, all activities and events scheduled after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5 are also canceled.
Remember that during closures Leading Edge (Before and After School Care) does not operate, administrative offices are closed, and there are no field trips, after-school activities, or athletic activities unless approved by the superintendent.
We appreciate your trust and understanding with every weather decision we make. Our weather team makes our calls by thoroughly evaluating multiple local forecasts, and several meteorologists are confident this storm will significantly impact travel in our area on Wednesday.
Enjoy what’s likely our last snow day for the 2025–26 school year! We look forward to seeing students and staff on our campuses on Thursday.
