  • Community Open House: Long-Term Planning
    Lewis-Palmer School District along with RTA Architects and Western Demographics hosted a community open house on Monday, February 13.

    This past spring, Lewis-Palmer School District contracted with RTA Architects to provide long-range facilities planning and consultation services in light of the significant growth in the Tri-Lakes area. RTA recently completed a physical assessment of LPSD buildings and a demographic study. This open house provided the first opportunity for the public to hear these initial findings and provide feedback.

    The LPSD Hall of Fame Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Hall of Fame.  See the announcement flyer.  The deadline for submitting nominations is April 28, 2017.  A copy of the nomination form with instructions can be found here.

  • Educator Effectiveness Metrics 
    On February 6 for the first time, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) will release a limited number of Educator Effectiveness Metrics that reflect teacher and principal ratings from the 2014-2015 school year. The department will report on only four metrics for teachers and four for principals. The publicly reported metrics will only show how teachers and principals are doing as a group at the school, district, and state level. Once published, the release will be available on CDE’s news release webpage, where you can also link to SchoolView to view state-, district-and school- level Educator Effectiveness Metrics data. Please note: the CDE's reporting of LPSD "not rated" data is incorrect. CDE is addressing this issue.

    The CDE released PRELIMINARY DRAFTS of District and School Performance Frameworks (DPF and SPF) on Tuesday, October 4. This information may be accessed under the Assessment and Accountability Department page.

     Pizza Night - February 24th - here at Prairie Winds during the Science Fair!

    Order your pizza and plan on spending the evening with us to enjoy not only the Science Fair, but the annual Basket Drawing as well!  Proceeds of the Basket Drawing go to our fabulous K-Kids Student Council.

    Let's celebrate all of our diverse family backgrounds, rich cultures, adopted children and various foods.  Join us in re-creating the 7 continents and some of the countries within them by designing a display of information, artifacts, and even food!

    Thursday, May 4th, 2017,  4:30-5:30PM

    Please join us, with your fall kindergartner, for our Kindergarten Story Hour.  We will have a "get acquainted" time, and a mini lesson for the incoming kindergartners, while Ms. Finnegan meets with parents and answers questions about Kindergarten at our school.

    In the spirit of service and stewardship, we are always collecting the following at Prairie Winds: 

          TerraCycle program items: variety of empty food wrappers and food snack pouches, writing instruments, oral care items, tape dispensers, personal care/beauty items and aluminum beverage containers.  Please contact the front office, check the school website or browse the school information rack for more details. 
         Children’s books:  Bring a book, take a book at the Little Lending Library in the Commons area.  A great way to pass along all of those books you have outgrown to a new reader. 

    Please collect items at home throughout the school year, and drop them off at the front office or send them in with your student.
