Hundreds of Lewis-Palmer School District 38 students joined the ranks of D38 alumni Friday, May 20 as they received their diplomas and were recognized as full high school graduates.
Lewis-Palmer High School celebrated 287 graduates and Palmer Ridge High School celebrated 291 graduates. Both ceremonies celebrating the Class of 2022 were held at the BroAdmoor World Arena.
“This is a great time of year for those of us in the District, and our students. At the end of this week, we culminate the core of our mission: a safe, quality and accessible education for our students. For our 6th and 8th-graders, it is their time for continuation, and it is a real joyous occasion. For our high schools, there will be graduation, and students will go off into the world. This milestone is really the essence of what D38 does,” said Board of Education member Ron Schwarz.
Schwarz said D38 the nearly 600 graduating students will be leaving prepared for whatever they choose next, whether that is continuing their education, or entering the workforce.
“These young adults have a breadth of academic and extracurricular experiences, and some exposure to the world they’re going into so that they don’t enter it blindly,” he said.
Schwarz, and others, congratulated each and every student for their efforts and the achievement of graduating.
As students prepare for this occasion, many are undecided about their next steps, but for those who are pursuing a next step of education, whether that is at a trade school, community college or four-year university, D38 students have already earned more than $10 million in scholarship dollars.
