Mrs. Leigh Merrill

"Work while you have the light.
You are responsible for the
talent which has been entrusted to you."
~ H.F. Amiel

Mrs. Merrill was born and raised in a steel mill town located in the foothills of the Appalachians. She attended Brigham Young University in Utah and graduated with her bachelors degree in 1985, the same year she and her husband were married. Together they have two children and two grandchildren. Mrs. Merrill has been teaching in Colorado since 1994 and earned her masters degree in curriculum and instruction in 2000 from UCCS. She has been teaching at Kilmer Elementary since 2002, one year in 3rd grade and the rest in 5th grade. Beginning in the fall of 2017 she is so excited to be returning to her roots in 3rd grade. Her teaching philosophy centers on helping students build on their strengths so they can be successful, confident students today on their path to becoming well-informed, hard-working members of society later in life.
