Gifted and Talented Education
Lewis-Palmer School District has a gifted and talented facilitator on every campus.
"Gifted and talented children" means those persons between the ages of four and twenty-one whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishment are so exceptional or developmentally advanced that they require special provisions to meet their educational programming needs. Gifted students include gifted students with disabilities (i.e., twice exceptional) and students with exceptional abilities or potential from all socio-economic and ethnic, cultural populations. Gifted students are capable of high performance, exceptional production, or exceptional learning behavior by virtue of any or a combination of these areas of giftedness:
- General or specific intellectual ability
- Specific academic aptitude
- Creative or productive thinking
- Leadership abilities
- Visual arts, performing arts, musical or psychomotor abilities
GT Facilitator and District TOSA
My name is Annette Bass. I am excited to be a part of the Lewis-Palmer School District, as the Gifted and Talented TOSA. I serve as the GT district facilitator.
I have always been passionate that every student should receive the education that will help them best meet their potential, and I recognize that no matter what level a student is, they should be challenged appropriately. I am dedicated to making sure that each child has what they need to successfully meet their potential.
I earned both my Bachelor of Arts Degree, and Master of Education Degree from Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted and Talented Education, and I am endorsed as a "Specialist" in Gifted and Talented Education (grades PK - 12) through the Colorado Department of Education. I started teaching in 1990 and have taught every elementary grade from Preschool through Fifth (with the exception of second grade). I did take some time off to stay home with my youngest two children and opened a home daycare/preschool.
I understand how important it is that we all work together to help our children become who they are meant to be. If you need to reach me, the best way to contact me is through email because I will be working at different sites. I will try to get back to you within 24 hours if it is a weekday.
My email is: email@example.com. Please let me know how I can help you.
