Mrs. Monica Tupper
A science classroom should be a place of discovery, amazement, and excitement. It should be a place students can question the apparent and gain a wealth of knowledge. It is my belief that a safe, active, engaged, and hands-on learning environment is the most successful place for students to achieve their full potential. It is this environment, coupled with great enthusiasm and energy for the subject matter that make for a high-achieving, successful classroom.
Keeping high expectations in the classroom are very important to me. It is necessary for students to be challenged in the classroom through all different avenues. I believe strongly in incorporating every student learning modality in my classroom in order to reach all students. Accomplishing this also allows me to keep the interest of every student in the classroom. Teamwork is vital to the success of today’s students and my lifetime of athletic experience allows me to facilitate a healthy team atmosphere. The ability to collaborate is a crucial quality for any person to possess. When students learn to work as a team in the classroom they are later able to apply it in the “real world.”
Science has always been one of my greatest passions. It allows one to question their surroundings and to obtain a deeper understanding of the world. One of my main goals is to share my passion and encourage my students to enjoy science. This will be my 9th year teaching and I am excited to be a part of the Lewis-Palmer high school staff. I also can be found coaching softball and advising multiple clubs here at Lewis-Palmer as well.
