Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Wayne Hughbanks

Greetings! My name is Wayne Hughbanks and I am looking forward to working with your 6th graders this year as we prepare them to move on to middle school and beyond.  I began teaching 6th grade math and science here at PLES in March of 2017.  I returned the following year to teach 6th grade math.  I returned to teach both 6th grade math and science since the 2018-2019 school year.

I have a BS degree in Electronics from Southern Illinois University and an MA in Computer Resources and Information Systems from Webster University. I earned my teaching certification through Colorado Christian University in 2012.  I retired from the US Air Force in 2007. During my 24.5 years, I worked on a wide assortment of long distance telecommunications systems, primarily satellite terminals. I also spent half of this career outside of the United States. The knowledge and experience gained over this time provided me a solid background in both math and science as well as being able to translate the concepts students will learn and how to apply them in real life.

My wife and I have 5 children between us however, they are all grown and on their own.  We do enjoy getting together when we can however, my wife and I still enjoy the same activities on our own like camping, hiking and white-water rafting.  Colorado is truly the best place to be "outdoor people".
