HEALTH/P.E. TEACHER

I will be teaching Health, Introduction to Dance, Body Tone and Fitness, Individual and Dual Sports, and Team and Recreational Sports. I have 12 years of physical education experience, primarily at Cheyenne Mountain High School and Palmer Ridge. My undergraduate is from the University of Northern Colorado in K-12 Physical Education and my masters is from Ohio University in Coaching Education. I will be coaching football, men's basketball, and track this year. I have a wife and two daughters, 5 and 7. I have a passion for kids and look forward to working together. GO BEARS!

  • Team Rec - Essential Learning Outcomes

    ELO 1: CO State Standard 1.1 Movement Competence and Understanding (Psychomotor) 

    1. The student will be able to engage in a variety of physical activities at a competent level.  
      1. The student will perform a variety of fitness and recreational activities in an independent learning environment.
      2. The student will be assessed by weekly submissions of completed fitness and recreational activity.

    ELO 2: CO State Standard 2.2 Physical and Personal Wellness (Cognitive)

    1. The student will be able to examine resources to maintain lifelong health and wellness.
      1. The student will access and recall rules and etiquette for a variety of team and recreational sports. (i.e. softball, football, soccer)
      2. The student will be assessed through bi-weekly canvas assessments.

    ELO 3: CO State Standard 1.2 Movement Competence and Understanding (Affective)

    1. The student will be able to identify and evaluate personal physiological responses to physical activity (e.g., anxiety, stress, etc.). 
      1. The student will evaluate their psychosomatic response to physical activity.
      2. The student will be assessed with bi-weekly canvas submissions highlighting their emotional state prior to physical activity and post-physical activity. 

    Body Tone - Essential Learning Outcomes

    ELO 1: CO State Standard 1.1 Movement Competence and Understanding (Psychomotor)

      1. The student will develop a fitness plan that is unique to their goals while achieving overload through the FITT Principle.  
      2. The student will be assessed using a summative assessment as their final project.

    ELO 3: CO State Standard 1.2 Movement Competence and Understanding (Affective)

    1. The student will be able to identify and evaluate personal physiological responses to physical activity (e.g., anxiety, stress, etc.). 
      1. The student will evaluate their psychosomatic response to physical activity.
      2. The student will be assessed with bi-weekly canvas submissions highlighting their emotional state prior to physical activity and post physical activity. 

    Dance - Essential Learning Outcomes

    ELO 1: CO State Standard 1.1 Movement, Technique, and Performance (Psychomotor) 

    1. The student will be able to perform intermediate/advanced dance movements/techniques with artistic expression.
      1. The student will perform a variety of dances in an independent learning environment.
      2. The student will be assessed by weekly submissions of completed dance activity.

    ELO 2: CO State Standard 2.2 Create, Compose, and Choreograph (Cognitive)

    1. The student will be able to clarify the artistic intent of a dance by manipulating choreographic forms and structures.
      1. The student will determine their preferred style of dance and choreograph a final performance.
      2. The student will be assessed using a summative assessment as their final project.

    ELO 3: CO State Standard 2.1 Create, Compose, and Choreograph  (Affective)

    1. The student will be able to experiment with the elements of movement to explore personal preferences and strengths through improvisation.
      1. The student will perform a variety of dance styles and determine what style of dance is their personal preference.  
      2. The student will be assessed with weekly canvas submissions highlighting their emotional state when engaging in specific styles of dance. 

    Health - Essential Learning Outcomes

    ELO 1: CO State Standard 2.1 Physical and Personal Wellness (Nutrition)

    1. The student will be able to synthesize the impact of healthy and unhealthy diets on daily living.  
      1. The student will record and analyze a 3-day nutrition journal.
      2. The student will be assessed submitting their 3-day nutrition journal, activity journal, and paper depicting their nutrition and activity relationship.  

    ELO 2: CO State Standard 2.6 Physical and Personal Wellness. (Nutrition and Sex Ed)

    1. The student will be able to develop and maintain ongoing evaluation of factors that impact health, and modify lifestyle accordingly.
      1. The student will utilize nutrition and sex education material to evaluate their choices and help direct future decisions.  
      2. The student will be assessed using two separate formative assessments both in nutrition and sex education.

    ELO 3: CO State Standard 2.4 Physical and Personal Wellness. (Sex Ed)

    1. The student will be able to use a decision-making process to make healthy decisions about relationships and sexual health.
      1. The student will complete the “Baby Budget Project” focusing on relationships, responsibilities, and sexual health associated with early sexual activity.
      2. The student will be assessed by completing a summative assessment as their final project.
