Mrs. Debra Kimple
Hello and Welcome to our classroom! It's great to be back in the 5th Grade and starting my second year at Prairie Winds! Prairie Winds is an amazing place to be a teacher and a learner and I am so excited to be a part of this amazing team! We will encourage each other to be independent learners and set goals that will challenge and motivate us. We will create a community within our classroom that is safe, comfortable and energizing by treating each other with kindness and respect. We will be discovering new things in Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies and many other areas so get ready to have some fun!
I was born and raised in Hawaii but have also lived in Japan and San Diego. I received my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Hawaii and have been teaching for 24 years (mainly on the island of Oahu) in grades 1-6. I also taught Grade 2, on base, in Japan and 2 years of Special Needs Preschool. I have guest taught in the Lewis-Palmer School District since October 2016 and have had the privilege of experiencing different schools in our area. I live in Monument with my husband and 23 year old son; my 26 year old daughter lives in San Diego. We have 3 big dogs that love to run, take walks and go on hikes. When I'm not in school, I can be found in my garden trying to make things grow; on my couch reading a book or just spending time with my family.
Communication is key to a successful experience in school and the best way to contact me is via email firstname.lastname@example.org or come in and see me!
Our journey together begins here and there are so many wonderful and exciting adventures in store for all of us! So fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the ride!
