Mrs. Mandy King
6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher
Hello! My name is Mandy King and I am thrilled to be teaching 6th grade ELA at Lewis-Palmer Elementary! I started my teaching career in 2002. I taught 2nd grade for several years, and then stayed home to raise my children for about 10 years. I have been with LPES for five years now and have taught 4th and 5th grades! Words cannot express how excited I am to be your ELA teacher. Reading and writing has been a passion of mine since I was young. I believe that writing is the most powerful form of communication and that reading can truly change your life! There are many books that have had a profound effect on my outlook on life and my view of the world.
A little about me: I grew up on a cattle ranch in very southern CO. I graduated with my teaching degree from Adams State College (now a University). I moved to Colorado Springs to do my student teaching and that's where I met my husband, Mike. We have been married for 18 years. He is a retired Green Beret of the US Army, after 23 years of service. We've spent all of our years either here at Ft. Carson or in NC at Ft. Bragg. We are beyond happy to be settled in Monument! We have two children, Megan (10th grade) and Micah (5th grade). I'm so happy to have them here in LPSD with me! We all enjoy spending time outdoors; hiking, camping, fishing, paddle boarding, swimming, etc.
I'm looking forward to an amazing school year! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Welcome to 6th Grade!
