Mrs. Mandy King
4th Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Mandy King and I am thrilled to be teaching 4th grade at LPES! I started my teaching career in 2002. I taught 2nd grade for several years, and then stayed home to raise my children for about 10 years. I can't wait to dive into the amazing fourth grade curriculum! We get to study the geography and history of Colorado; from Native Americans to the gold rush. We'll learn about the economy of CO and also our government. In Science, we're going to study (and create) ecosystems. We get to learn about plants, animals, electricity, Earth and space. We're going to gain so much knowledge this year!
A little about me: I grew up on a cattle ranch in very southern CO. I graduated with my teaching degree from Adams State College (now a University). I moved to Colorado Springs to do my student teaching and that's where I met my husband, Mike. We have been married for 15 years. He is a retired Green Beret of the US Army, after 23 years of service. We've spent all of our years either here at Ft. Carson or in NC at Ft. Bragg. We are beyond happy to be settled in Monument! We have two children, Megan (7th grade) and Micah (2nd grade). I'm so happy to have them here in LPSD with me! We all enjoy spending time outdoors; hiking, camping, fishing, paddle boarding, swimming, etc.
I'm looking forward to an amazing school year! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Welcome to 4th Grade!
