Mrs. Maria Brown
Hello! I want to welcome your family to kindergarten and Kilmer Elementary School! Kindergarten is a year of significant growth developmentally, academically and socially. I am honored to part of your child’s life during this time. I have been teaching at Kilmer Elementary since 2015 and feel privileged to be part of this exceptional learning community. I have a B.A in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and an Elementary Education Degree from Regis University. I am currently working on a masters degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Dakota.
I am a Black Forest native and an alumni of Lewis-Palmer High School. My family and I love to hike, camp, and play board games together. During my quiet time I enjoy reading books.
I am looking forward to a partnership with your family for a successful and wonderful year of kindergarten!

Welcome to kindergarten! Kindergarten is one of the most vital experiences in a child's life. It creates a feeling of self-confidence and brings opportunities for learning that have a lifelong impact on a child's later success. By providing a positive atmosphere where a child can work and play and by offering developmentally appropriate activities, we will initiate the development of responsible and independent learners who can function successfully in school and society.
The emphasis of kindergarten curriculum is to provide learning experiences for the total child:
-Social-Emotional
-Intellectual
-Play and Movement
-STEM and STEAM
Different learning activities will be used to teach curriculum. Your child will be taught through large group, small group, movement, individual instruction throughout the year.
