Middle School Fall Athletics Cancelled
Following guidance from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), El Paso County Public Health (EPCPH), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Lewis-Palmer Middle School has thoughtfully and intentionally created structures to cohort groups of students, within their grade levels, to reduce exposure and the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus. Additionally, guidance from the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) further supports taking measures to reduce unnecessary person-to-person contact and maintain social distancing . All of the guidance that has been received, and in our continued efforts to act out of an abundance of caution, all Fall Interscholastic athletics and competitions have been cancelled. That said, we are in the process of considering athletics and activities that will engage our students, staff, and community in intramural/club opportunities. LPMS will share the unique and enriching intramural opportunities that may be provided during the Fall semester in the coming weeks. Please note that physicals will be required to participate in all school-sponsored athletic intramural activities. Our middle school athletic league will meet in the coming weeks to discuss plans for the second semester.
LPMS has a NO-CUT sports policy, except softball. -All students wishing to play are placed on an intramural or interscholastic team. All paperwork and fees must be turned in prior to the first day of practice. No monies will be refunded unless due to a medical injury documented by a physician.
