Señorita Martinez

Spanish Teacher

My name is AliciaRose Martinez and this is my tenth year at Palmer Ridge High School. I am very excited for this upcoming school year and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself!

I’m originally from Las Vegas, New Mexico and I have lived in Colorado since 2004. Before coming to Colorado Springs I attended the United World College of the Atlantic, an International Baccalaureate school in Wales with a mission of promoting international understanding and community engagement. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree at Colorado College in 2008 where I studied Romance Languages (Spanish, Italian, and French) and American Cultural Studies. During my college career I was involved heavily in community service, the Colorado College Rugby Football Club, and the mariachi group, Mariachi Tigre, where I sang and played the vihuela and guitar. I also completed the Masters in Teaching Program at Colorado College in the summer of 2009, where I conducted action research on using music as a tool for teaching foreign language.

I am very passionate about teaching and learning and I strive to make my classes interesting and relevant to student experience. Students should be able to leave the classroom everyday with a sense of accomplishment and an excitement to learn!

If you have any questions/comments/concerns throughout the year please feel free to contact me via email (amartinez@lewispalmer.org), phone (867-8291), or in person!

My office hours are 1st and 5th hour where you can find me in Neighborhood B. If these times do not work for you, you can always schedule an appointment with me for before/after school or during 1st lunch.

I look forward to spending a fun and productive year with you all!
