Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Edi Pettegrew
Hello! I am thrilled to be on staff at LPES! I bring 9 years of primary classroom experience to 2nd grade. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I am especially passionate about whole child teaching, child development, literacy, and creative hands-on learning activities! Second grade is a wonderful year for our students and I work diligently to tap into their natural curiosity for learning.
I live just down the road in Woodmoor and love sharing this district with my own children. In our free time, my family loves to mountain bike, hike, travel, and spend time enjoying the mountains.
If you have any questions about our classroom or LPES please contact me via email.
Welcome to 2nd grade! Let's have fun learning together!

3rd Grade Facts
Homework consists of nightly math, spelling practice as needed, and reading. Sometimes there may be additional elements like a study guide for social studies or science. Homework completion is an expectation in third grade and is reflected on the report card. I will not return graded homework home unless I have concerns.
Student of the Week
Each week our class will have a Student of the Week. On the preceeding Friday, one student will get a special "It's All about About me" Flyer in their Friday Folder. That lets you know they are the upcoming Student of the Week. They will be given several special classroom privileges. They are encouraged to fill out the "All About Me" flyer, bring it back to share along with one show and tell item. Each student will get a turn to be student of the week in 3rd grade.
Friday folders come home the last day of every week. They are full of completed classwork, tests, and information from LPES that needs to go home. It is important to get into the habit of checking Friday folders each week. They should be returned the first day of the following week so I can prepare them again. There is no need to sign the back of the folder, please empty the contents of the folder each week though.
Classroom Snacks and Water Bottles
Third graders are encouraged to have one snack a day. They are given two time periods in the day to eat their snack. They may make a choice that is right for them about when they'd like to eat. Water bottles are welcome in the classroom but they can only contain water and must be spill proof.
Due to severe nut allergies in 3rd grade, all snacks must be completely nut-free (ALL NUTS) in our classrooms.
