Westwind Yearbook Production
Students on the yearbook staff will develop and produce the Westwind Yearbook, which is a historical record of the year. They will practice many facets of the journalist’s craft: digital photography, digital page layout using Adobe InDesign, reporting and copywriting skills. This production-oriented class requires that students work outside of normal school hours to photograph events, work with advertisers, interview subjects, and work on the layout of the yearbook in order to meet firm deadlines. The Westwind is partially funded through sales, but the students will still be required to sell advertising as part of their grade. Editors will be expected to put in extra hours, including lunches, off periods, and after school hours, to ensure their own work is completed.
