Ridgeline TV

  • PR-TV is the Palmer Ridge's television broadcast and digital video program. Ridgeline is the school's student-produced news program. Ridgeline teaches students the workings of a broadcast TV news “station.” Students produce video news content to fill the show schedule and then anchor and record a broadcast that airs in classrooms and offices throughout the school via a Youtube link.

Students learn the types of news formats, operation of prosumer field and studio equipment including cameras, tripods, microphones, teleprompters, and live video switching as well as script writing and editing. Palmer Ridge's TV and video facility rivals those of any high school in the state.

The purpose of this class is to introduce students to the broadcast journalism by promoting the positive people, events, and activities in our school, district, and community through the video medium. It is necessary that students put in additional time outside of class, including attending activities and events before and after school and at locations on and off campus. Students must be able to work independently and are responsible for the equipment in their possession. Students choose their assignments, but teacher approval is required.
