About Our District

  • About D38 There are five elementary schools educating grades Prek-6, one middle school educating grades 7 & 8, and two high schools educating grades 9-12; serving over 5800 students. In addition to the core curriculum, all district schools offer programs to meet the unique learning needs of students that qualify for Special Education services, Gifted and Talented services and for those students that speak languages other than English. Indicators of student learning, as measured by state and national tests, confirm that District 38 results have been among the highest in the state.

Where is Lewis-Palmer School District 38?

  • The Lewis-Palmer School District #38 is in colorful Colorado, situated at the northern end of El Paso County, approximately 20 miles north of downtown Colorado Springs and approximately 40 miles south of Denver. The district is rich in history, educating students for more than 130 years.

    Lewis-Palmer School District #38 encompasses Palmer Lake, Monument, Woodmoor and the northern part of the Black Forest area. Nestled at the foot of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 6,900 ft., Lewis-Palmer School District #38 is surrounded by tremendous views of the Front Range. With quick and easy access to Interstate 25, people living in the District can take in all the advantages of mountain living with city conveniences nearby.

    Hiking and biking are enjoyed in the area abundantly. Sixteen miles of the Santa Fe Trail extends from the south entrance of the Air Force Academy north to the Town of Palmer Lake. Two 18-hole golf courses are located within the school district with many more in the surrounding area. Residents in this area also take pleasure in other activities such as snow skiing, horseback riding, and 4-wheel driving.

    With over 275 days of sunshine per year on average and so many things to do, this area is a great place to work and raise a family.
