Degrees and Certifications:
I am very fortunate to have taught at Kilmer for many years, first as a First Grade Teacher and now as the Reading Interventionist. I have a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Reading from UCCS. I enjoyed tutoring for the UCCS Reading Department under Dr. Barbara Swaby and have a passion for working with children and helping them learn to read.
My husband and I have lived in Colorado Springs for over two decades; and are still continually struck by the incredible beauty of this area. We have five delightful children and eleven adorable grandchildren - of course I am not a bit biased! I am also very proud and fond of my Kilmer students!
I knew I wanted to be a teacher since my first day of Kindergarten at the age of five. I grew up in Tempe, Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Elementary Education. My hobbies include reading, hiking, biking, cooking and board games.

Hello dear Kilmer families. I truly love being a part of the Kilmer family! My job as Reading Interventionist is to work closely with classroom teachers to meet the literacy needs of our students. The literacy strengths and needs of all students are regularly monitored with a variety of assessments. When a need is identified, we address that need with the appropriate intervention. Some interventions are provided by the classroom teacher and some are provided by me or our wonderful para-professionals.
My passion is to help children reach their potentials as proficient readers and to develop a love for recreational reading. Reading can be so much fun! It takes us to different times and places. It entertains, inspires, informs, and educates us. It is an essential foundational skill for all academic success.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I would love to help you in any way that I can.
