Lewis-Palmer School District #38
16th Annual FREE
CHESS TOURNAMENT
Saturday, February 11, 2023
The tournament is open to all students, from grades Kindergarten through 12, who are either students in School District #38 or live within the District #38 boundaries.
The tournament will be held at Bear Creek Elementary School.
(this is a new location)
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and the First Round starts at 9:00 a.m. Please arrive by 8:40 a.m.
We will play 4 rounds and the Tournament should be over by 2:00 p.m.
Pre-registration is encouraged so we can order sufficient trophies and medals for all participants.

Chess sets will be provided. Children should bring their own snacks. However, we will be selling pizza and sodas so that we can raise a little money to offset expenses.

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation's Young Scholars Program application will open February 7, 2022. The Young Scholars Program is a selective five-year, pre-college scholarship program for high-performing 7th grade students with financial need. Along with financial support for school, summer programs, and other enrichment opportunities, it provides personalized academic advising and connection to the thriving community of Cooke Scholars.Eligible applicants should:
- Be currently in 7th grade/entering 8th grade in the fall of 2022.
- Have earned all As and Bs since the beginning of 6th grade.
- Reside in the United States and plan to attend high school in the U.S.
- Demonstrate financial need with a maximum adjusted gross income of $95,000.
