Library Media and Technology

  • library The mission of the Lewis-Palmer Middle School Library is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. Our goal is to increase student achievement through collaboration and the inclusion of information literacy skills. We also want to share the love of reading with the students, staff and the community of LPMS.

LPMS students make weekly visits to the Library Media Center (LMC) with their language arts classes.  These visits are up to 30 minutes and include time for students to browse the collection; check out, return, or renew materials; and update their library index cards with books they have read.  Depending on the language arts teacher students may also have time for silent reading and book talks from the library media teacher Mrs. Wilder. Mrs. Wilder also collaborates with Team and Exploratory teachers to provide relevant instruction on information/literacy/technology skills during “library time” as well as during regular classroom instruction time.

Mrs. Lorena Wilder

The mission of our Library-Media/Technology program is to increase learning through information/technology literacy and a love of reading. I strongly believe the LM/T Center should be an open, friendly, welcoming place for students and staff that embraces differences in learning styles and abilities.

Mrs. Wilder is from three generations of women teaching in public education. She has degrees from Georgetown University (B.S. in Foreign Affairs), Regis University (Colorado teaching endorsement) and The University of Northern Colorado (M.A. in Educational Media). Mrs. Wilder has worked in school libraries for almost twenty-five years and has been a middle school teacher librarian in LPSD since 2001. Her biggest library challenges have been the opening of Creekside Middle School library media center in 2001, then the closing and merging that library with Lewis-Palmer Middle School in 2010. She looks looking forward to many more years of working with the Lewis-Palmer Middle School community!
