  • 9th Annual Breakaway Hockey Dinner, Presentation & Auction

You are invited!  This Friday, Nov. 17 6:00pm at the Great Wolf Lodge (I-25 and Interquest).

    image

Our 9th Annual Breakway Hockey Event is the biggest event for our team for the year!  The fundraising committee has been working since last March on this event, and has a terrific night planned!

    Here are the details:

Who:   LP Ranger Hockey Players, Families, Friends and Alumni

What:  Silent, live and dessert auctions, accompanied by a banquet feast catered by the legendary Nikki McDonald.  Craig Coffey from FOX21 News is scheduled as our emcee and Peter Husak is returning as our auctioneer.

    When:   November 17, 2017 from 6pm-11pm

WhereGreat Wolf Lodge, I-25 and Interquest Parkway

Why:  Every year the LP Ranger Hockey team must raise over $15,000, over and above athletic fees, to pay for team expenses. Unlike other school sports, our practice and game facility is privately owned and requires extensive fundraising to cover ice rental fees.  We also have other fees such as:  transportation, referees, Gatorade, pucks, uniforms, special events and more, that must be paid by funds raised at this event.

Fact:  Ice fees alone amount to approximately $15,000 for the season

Fact:  Players generally get 3+ touches per week, including games, and great coaching

All of the funds raised will help ensure a successful hockey season! With this single fundraiser, we need everyone’s support!

(Apex-Arvada, CO)  Lewis-Palmer (5-9, 2-8 Foothills Conference) has been looking for a signature win all season. The Rangers have been in plenty of tough games, but haven’t been able to get that one win to hang their hats on. That might have changed Wednesday night.

The Pikes Peak region No. 2 Rangers watched as Ralston Valley (9-6-1, 6-5-1) jumped to a 4-0 lead before the first-period horn. After that, it was all Rangers.

Christian Perry scored twice in the third period to complete his hat trick and Lewis-Palmer rallied by scoring the game’s final five goals to upset the Mustangs.

Heading into the game, the Mustangs were No. 4 in the RPI rankings. L-P was 17th.

“I’ve been at L-P since we’ve had a program, and besides our two state championships this is probably one of the most memorable games that I’ve been involved with our kids,” L-P co-coach Kevin Margarucci said.

Tanner Colson and Jack Filer scored less than five minutes apart in the second before Perry had a goal to cut the deficit to 4-3 heading to the third. Perry assisted on Colson’s and Filer’s goals.

    PREP HOCKEY CAPSULES

    FOOTHILLS CONFERENCE
    LEWIS-PALMER

    Coach: Hal Jordan (fourth season)
Last season: 13-6-1 (lost state first round)
Key players: Noah Vanderbeck, sr.; Ian Fraser, sr.; Christian Perry, sr.; Joey Duca, sr.; Sam Riesling, sr; Ben Kleinsmith, jr; Tanner Colson, jr.

Outlook:  With eight seniors and 13 returning lettermen, the Rangers will rely on a stout defense to meet their goal of reaching the state semifinals March 3 in Denver's Magness Arena.  The Rangers have good depth at goalie, led by Vanderbeck, and a defensive corps paced by Fraser, Colson, Pierce and Riesling.  The team's best playmaker is Perry with offensive support expected from Duca and Kleinsmith.
