Americana

  • This course will examine the scope of political, social, and economic changes that occurred in the United States from Reconstruction through the 20th Century.  Throughout the duration of this year-long (1.0 credit) course, students will become more comfortable with the use and analysis of primary documents, identification and recognition of bias, and the creation of well-structured written responses to thematic questions from various units covered in this course.  The goal is to have students formulate their own opinions based on their analysis of information, and support their arguments with facts from both primary and secondary sources. This will be accomplished through multiple writing and speaking assignments throughout the year.
