• LPSD #38 Summer Band

The information contained here is meant for middle school students but is open to incoming freshmen.

Summer Band in District 38 happens at the end of the summer and we would love to have you join us there. This is a great opportunity to get a jump start on the school year and meet some new friends that you will be in band with this year. All of the summer band classes and the concert will be held at Lewis-Palmer Middle School. Classes will begin on Monday, July 23rd and go until Friday, August 3rd. You can see the times on the Summer Band Flyer that I have included at the bottom of this page.

On the registration form you will see several different classes offered at different times of the day.

Students new to band should sign up for the beginning class (we will show you what you need to know). Trumpets, horns, trombones, baritones, and tubas should sign up for the brass class and flutes, oboes, clarinets, and bassoons should sign up for woodwinds.

Students with one year of playing experience should sign up for Patriot Band and/or Jazz Band. You can even take 2 classes each day (there is no extra charge for taking more than one class)!

    Beginning Band Students

You will need your instrument on the first day of Summer Band. You can rent an instrument from either Graner Music (574-2001) or Meeker Music (534-9919).  As all instruments are not created equal, we recommend the following models for each instrument:

    • Flute: Yamaha YFL 200AD
    • Clarinet: Yamaha YCL 200AD with Vandoren 5RV Lyre Mouthpiece
    • Trumpet: Yamaha YTR 200 AD with Bach 7C mouthpiece
    • Trombone: Yamaha YSL 200AD with Bach 6-1/2 AL-S mouthpiece
    • Percussion: Percussion Combination kit that contains bells, mallets, Snare drum and sticks

Bassoon, French Horn, Baritone, and Tuba are rented through the district.  If your child chooses one of these instruments it will be ready for them on the first day of Summer Band.
