AP Human Geography is a course that looks to analyze the “why of where.” It requires interdisciplinary thinking as it teaches spatial relationships (from local to global), landscape analysis, and geoliteracy. The goal of the course is to get students more engaged in contemporary global issues, become more multicultural in their viewpoints, and relevant to the world in which they live. This course is very much based on current events, as they usually coincide with the course units (listed below). Finally, content is presented thematically (not regionally, as with geography classes at PRHS,) and greatly relies on content from economics, politics, and culture.
- Geography: Its Nature and Perspectives
- Population and Migration
- Cultural Patterns and Processes
- Political Organization of Space
- Agriculture, Food Production, and Rural Land Use
- Industrialization and Economic Development
- Cities and Urban Land Use
