Drama Lettering Information

  • At Palmer Ridge High School, it is possible to earn a varsity letter in theatre.  Students earn points towards these letters through their active participation in the extra-curricular theatre program.  A point corresponds roughly to ten hours of service to the theatre program.  Our point system is adapted from the point system used by the International Thespian Society.

    • You earn a letter at 25 points, and every 25 points afterward. Points carry over from year to year. You may only earn one drama letter per year.
    • In general, activities that earn a grade because they are for a class will not be counted towards lettering.
    • Members of Senior Practicum may apply points from your show at half value (since you also get a grade)
    • Students on multiple crews for the same productions may count the full amount for the highest-point-value assignment, then half of the second one.
    • Points (unless otherwise stated) are earned for participation in Bear Necessity productions, not outside organizations.
    • Participating in all three (spring, fall, and one-act) shows during a school year is an automatic letter.

Starting with school year 2017-2018 Bear Necessity will require students to record their Thespian Points online using this Google Form: Online Points Tracker (note: point tracker is currently offline).  This tool reports to the troupe sponsor. It can be used multiple times.

The point values for different activities are listed below. The point sheet and points system can be downloaded from this link if you would like to organize your record of activities before using the online point tracker.
