Mrs. Kim Briding

Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Kim Briding and I am so excited to be your child's first-grade teacher. We have an amazing year of learning ahead. I want my students to come to school each day knowing they are safe, loved, and a valued member of our classroom community.  First grade is where the magic happens . . . students become readers, learn to add two-digit numbers, tell time, and count money!  We let go of "I can't" and welcome in "what if I CAN".

I have a Bachelor of Business Administration from McKendree College, which is located in Illinois, near where I grew up and still visit often!  Go Cards!  I was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years and found a love of teaching from volunteering in my children's classrooms. So, I became a full-time student at University of Northern Colorado and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching. I have been teaching first grade at Bear Creek Elementary for the past five years, and am so grateful to be returning to Palmer Lake Elementary, which is where my career actually began as a student teacher.

My husband and I have been married for 27 years. We have 4 children, ages 24, 21, 18, 14. I am so grateful that all of my children have attended the Lewis-Palmer School District since kindergarten. I am truly this district's biggest fan because I have seen the impact it has made on my own children! My oldest daughter graduated from Denver University. Her career path has led her to work for an animation studio in Spain, which gives me a terrific vacation destination. The class will video chat with her often as she takes us along for her journeys around Europe.  Both of my boys attend UCCS in the Mechanical Engineering field. Lastly, my youngest daughter is a high school freshman (and is absolutely not allowed to grow up).

I love all types of movement!   I always cycle and weight lift before school, and am now keeping my paddle board and running shoes in my car for after school with so many great opportunities close by!  I bring that energy into the classroom and playground!  I believe that children learn best through movement . . . be it through songs, collaboration with peers, or the use of many different types of manipulatives found throughout our classroom.

Please contact me anytime. My email is kbriding@lewispalmer.org. I will do my best to get back to you within 24 hours, or as soon as I have a moment to open emails.  I am looking so forward to this year! It is my hope that my students fall in love with learning, while building supportive friendships. I know each day will be full of joy, laughter, and genuine curiosity!  This is the reason why I have chosen 'Adventure Awaits" as our classroom theme!

Loving First,

Kim Briding
