I am an avid instrumentalist! My idea of FUN is everything about MUSIC, playing, listening, recording...and constantly improving on every instrument in the band, so that I can understand firsthand the obstacles that young players face on the first miles of a GREAT musical journey. I am also a composer and arranger, so when I am not practicing music, I am writing it! I write extra exercises to supplement and deepen the topics in our band book, or to give more exciting challenges to those who love to push themselves, or just to have more fun with musical variety in our band classes.
I attended the University of Oregon for my Bachelor's degrees in Music and PE, and my Master's Degree in Music Education. I moved to Colorado in 1996 and have been teaching music continuously ever since, whether as a private studio teacher, D38 high school teacher, homeschool teacher, or guest clinician to do sectionals in many schools in D38 and D20.
I am the bassist for Pourly Edukated and for the Academy Jazz Ensemble, and I really really love to play the guitar. I like hiking or mountain biking to look for what's out in wildflowers, baking homemade bread, and family time with my husband Scott and our two teens, one graduate and one junior at Palmer Ridge High School. We also have a daughter, her husband, and GRANDBABY in Brisbane, Australia!
